It's not that complicated. Yeah you have to spend an hour or two after install looking up some guides, tweak some registry keys & turn off a bunch of default Settings.
Then you have practically zero nags.
Also no need to update 600+ MB every friggin day like on Ubuntu...
I spend probably twice as much after Ubuntu install just trying to get the OS to behave in something approaching user-friendly. Plus install and configure extra Gnome addons to get a decent desktop experience.
Yes. Because you say that as if Linux doesn't require the same or longer the second you dare use it as an average user and want to change the defaults. Or just use it in general.

Only takes a little bit of tweaking to remove all the fluff from Start menu including internet searches and you're done.
Many of these options are even surfaced by Microsoft directly in the Settings.
