I wish the likes of Inkscape had a SMIL feature (or if I had a magic want I'd revive KDE's Karbon to be able to do this). Doing SMIL animations "by hand" is rather tricky and as far as I know there's no comprehensive tool to do this - i.e. something that fully covers both SVG and SMIL.

In 2004, when they were working on 0.40, it was on the roadmap for 0.49 &lt;<a href="https:&#x2F;&#x2F;wiki.inkscape.org&#x2F;wiki&#x2F;index.php?title=Roadmap&amp;oldid=4153#Milestone_15_-_Animation_-_Inkscape_0.49" rel="nofollow">https:&#x2F;&#x2F;wiki.inkscape.org&#x2F;wiki&#x2F;index.php?title=Roadmap&amp;oldid...&gt;. Unfortunately it never happened, though they invite people interested in implementing it to join the development team &lt;<a href="https:&#x2F;&#x2F;inkscape.org&#x2F;learn&#x2F;animation&#x2F;" rel="nofollow">https:&#x2F;&#x2F;inkscape.org&#x2F;learn&#x2F;animation&#x2F;&gt;.
