My car still uses 3G, so not much listening to it anymore.. although oddly enough, when I drive into the dealership, they automatically download vehicle statuses.
I'm the same in my car but luckily for us they can grab the data over the OBD2 port when they do the servicing. :(
On a BMW a lot of stuff is synced on the key, and the rest of the information can be pulled over ODB2.
