Very, very few people like their programming jobs. There's absolutely no "love of the craft", "construct software" or artisan bullshit going on in the vast majority of jobs. So while AI may take jobs away, it won't take much joy from the remaining jobs on average. It will both degrade the job for those who like line-by-line coding and long debugging sessions while improving for those who don't like that.
You need a side project anyway to enjoy true software engineering and hacking. You can still do that with or without AI.
