    Imagine how big Apple would/could be if they embraced open hardware. They do have a moat here. macOS is so bloated, I hate it, but the hardware is just so much better than anything else.

      It's funny how it was the macOS that everyone wanted to run on non-Apple hardware, starting with the Sony Vaio rumour, ending with the Hackintosh.

      Now it's the other way round.

        I don't think many people were consistently using a Hackintosh as a daily driver, but that was also a time when OS X seemed less buggy than today.

          Indeed, buy the idea was you could have built a much more powerful system for much less money for hackintosh back then. I'd rather now use their hardware as it's cheaper than anything else comparable, but run it on Linux.
