Everyone is focusing on the feasibility of putting compute in space, but I'm more concerned about the unwiseness of putting AIs in a place where they might be reasonably able to deny us access.
Should human-AI relations sour, I want the reassurance that humans with sticks and rocks could reasonably hope to disassemble a data center. Place said data center in orbit around the sun, and the incentive for a hostile intelligence to isolate itself by, e.g. initiating a Kessler cascade, must be considered.
