    Alternatively, if users want legally binding contracts they should not treat promises as such, and demand a contract instead.

      Statements a manufacturer makes about their device before purchase are usually treated as legally binding. Saying you provide 10 years of updates is just like saying your charger delivers 60W.

      You don't need a contract for that, if the statement is untrue the product is now defective. And if done on purpose this is usually considered fraud

        They’ve already got the necessary lawyers to negotiate the class action settlement and to send checks for a portion of the purchase price to every class member, and they calculated that this would still save them money vs. whatever the alternative was.
