Almost every suit worth paying good money for uses a fine type of wool for the outer fabric. Wool has advanced a lot over the years but has always been breathable, odor-resistant and not terrible in the rain. (Not as good as a good synthetic blend, which is very modern relative to the suit, but it won't get heavy and take forever to dry like cotton does or hotbox you like pure poly will.)
