It's not the job security from AI, or pay that attracts me to "the trades". If I tell my daughters to consider electrician it is because my own career—working in an office, writing code, fixing bugs—has often felt unfulfilling. When I have free time I often find myself in the garage, building furniture with woodworking tools—or huddled over a silkscreen in the basement pulling screen prints. In short, I need to do something with my hands—have something tangible at the end of the day.
