    On top of all this, electricians don't spend much time doing actual electrical work. Time is spent driving a van, doing metal work, cutting, drilling, crawling around tight spaces etc.

      I hired an electrician to fix my pool lights.

      He had to spelunk under the house to run new lines, cut concrete, dig trenches, and scuba (yes, SCUBA!) with tools to get everything done.

      Maybe 5% of his time had to do with electricity. In my mind, I really paid him to dive into 55f degree water.

          Easy, it’s cheaper to pay the electrician to use his SCUBA gear than it is to drain and fill a pool with water.

            so pre-conditions for the job must be - know swimming and have a SCUBA gear?
