AOL released an AIM client called TiK[0] that used their TOC protocol[1] (Talk to OSCAR), which is text-based while OSCAR is binary, that was written in Tcl/Tk (and I think a console Tcl only version too?). A friend extended it some and I ended up making a custom version based on that in the 1990s. Lots of fun.
I also did some Tcl development for AOLserver in the early 2000s which surprisingly stands up well now in development ergonomics in some ways.
