As someone who used to upgrade every year in my younger days, it feels weird to completely agree with you. Half the time I move to a new OS, it's because I got a new computer. I haven't upgraded my M2 MBA from 2022 ever.
Absolutely never update an iPhone, oldest scam in the book. I'll still update macOS if there's a particular reason and it's to a known good version, partially cause I can go back worst case.
The MBP they gave me for work runs Tahoe cause it came with it. Wouldn't have done that myself, but honestly it's fine. My only complaint is that they still haven't fixed System Settings. They gotta just roll it back to System Preferences like they did with that wifi update years ago.
