Oh I've got some recs for you if you want meaty! I've been reading classics this year. It started with East of Eden; if you've got a philosophical leaning and appreciate your characters deeply fleshed out, you owe it to yourself to read this book.
The next one was Lonesome Dove, this was my first time reading a western and I didn't think I'd enjoy it as much as I did. The book is also absolutely hilarious and has one of my favorite characters in a book(shoutout to Gus).
I'm currently reading The Count of Monte Cresto and, boy, it's turning out to be quite the epic tale of revenge(no spoilers please!).
I'm halfway through Stoner right now and think about it quite a bit when I'm not reading it. I really don't know what to think about William Stoner (or Edith!).
I am halfway through my second read of Stoner, and I still don't know what to think of William Stoner, and I think that's deliberate to portray a complex human that can be in the world in contradictory ways. That's all I will say out of fear of spoiling anything.
This sentence from the first page is what piqued my interest in the book: "Stoner’s colleagues, who held him in no particular esteem when he was alive, speak of him rarely now; to the older ones, his name is a reminder of the end that awaits them all, and to the younger ones it is merely a sound which evokes no sense of the past and no identity with which they can associate themselves or their careers." I thought, "Why write about him then? There must be something here.". I was not disappointing. :)

- The Friends of Eddie Coyle
- A River Runs Through It
- Stoner
- The Tartar Steppe
- Siddhartha
And a very cliche recommendation but will still make it, the first 3 Game of Thrones books. I also like the Dark Tower series.
