I want to know what Singapore's grid operators have been up to. That seems to be the more interesting story based on the data in this article.

Singapore is also a 730 km^2 island city-state with a population of about 6.2 million people. I have honestly no idea why people and articles keep comparing it to literally the largest countries on the planet both in terms of land area and population. Ask any other wealthy cosmopolitan world city of about the same area and population what their electricity reliability figures are, and the answers will probably be quite similar.

Inb4 (in this case in-after) trope answers (see below) like 'veneer of perfectly clean and orderly society', 'punitive'. It is small; that is why it can get stuff done.

I 100% agree with this. I have great respect for Singapore and all the achievements of that country. But I also tell people to be mindful of the fact that it's a city state and an island.

I agree with your comment. And you don't get freedom of speech, right to protest, nor free media. Plus the same political party has had the majority since the country was founded (50+ years ago!). In Korea and Japan, you can have nearly the same level of orderliness, but none of the insane punishment rules, nor missing freedoms. I hestitate to add Taiwan because it isn't as orderly as Korea and Japan, but it is still very close.
