   Heh this sounds like someone’s passion project that is high enough up the food chain to demand it be done. I wouldn’t put it past Trump to flip through some old photos and then order NASA to restore the aircraft. I would take time off work and travel to see an SR-71 fly again but it doesn’t seem like the wisest use of NASA’s already too small budget.

      Perhaps part of the plan is to starve NASA of resources. Congress keeps cutting funding for Earth-facing satellites in order to prevent "proof" that global warming exists.
