Any move away from the abusive big tech that exists in USA is a good move in my book. Microsoft just recently made a new patent where they will monitor you via camera and microphone to block your program/game to show you ads, and per ads viewed, you then earn credit to be able to use your program/game. It is absolutely wild to me how a corporation can be so toxic and abusive to its users and still be in business.

The patent does not include monitoring using a camera or microphone. <a href="https:&#x2F;&#x2F;image-ppubs.uspto.gov&#x2F;dirsearch-public&#x2F;print&#x2F;downloadPdf&#x2F;20260260258" rel="nofollow">https:&#x2F;&#x2F;image-ppubs.uspto.gov&#x2F;dirsearch-public&#x2F;print&#x2F;downloa...

Yes you&#x27;re right, that&#x27;s my bad. I interpreted the &quot;audiovisual&quot; wrong. They are actually just monitoring the screen and system audio.

Not OP and thanks for linking the patent. I&#x27;m a bit confused - how this is a new patent? Candy Crush etc have been doing this for decades.

Patents are essentially by design almost unreadable: the attorneys who put them together are trying to make the patent seem as broad as possible, while the actual operative claims (a tiny fraction of the text) need to be single gargantuan sentences that need to be narrow enough to not be invalidated by prior art.

My guess--and this is only a guess, I can&#x27;t make enough sense to do anything more--is that the novel part may have something to do with the &quot;credit duration&quot; stuff.
