Ask HN: Hypothesis: Cellular providers are deprioritizing voice calls?

    Are you sure you don't have any misbehaving spam detectors? The voice circuits are VERY robust, low bandwidth, and cellular providers prioritize voice calls. There's just no reason to purposefully throttle the voice calls, the bandwidth savings would be negligible.

    But it's possible that your cellular provider has misconfigured STIR/SHAKEN validation and/or some badly behaving spam call detection.

      Possible? That people I call and call me every day, business people who I have dozens of calls with a month, and strangers (say a dentist office or new contact) all behave about the same made me think it was not as simple as over suspicious spam filtering. I also get a few spam calls a week, which both show up on missed call logs and sometimes leave voice messages.
