My problem with F-Droid has always been the lack of app reviews: no way to separate the good from the ugly and the bad.

Do you rely on Google Play reviews? Those are known to be highly manipulated and you can find any number of services offering to "boost" your reviews. I personally find online posts where people discuss about some app to have more meaningful feedback on it.

I use the Google Play reviews, and yes they can be manipulated but that is even less likely on F-Droid where there is less money involved.
