No need to speculate that the UK government "might" one day become the bad guys: they already arrest over 30 people a day for speech that offends the prevailing political orthodoxy.
Unfortunately, linking one bad article does not make something true. The number you quote includes threatening phone calls, abusive text messages, and general harassment including domestic violence. Four in five arrests did not result in a charge. You also don't hear about the ones that are charged, because they're less entertaining to read about in the news.
Also, shit like, "Authorities arrested a grandmother for silently holding a sign outside an abortion clinic that said “Coercion is a crime, here to talk, if you want.”" - Yeah, take your fucking signs away from people trying to get an abortion. It's harassment.
And, to top if off, you're American. I'm not sure how you can call our government the "bad guys".
