Assault was already illegal. So, this is to also ban calling the police names?

Already illegal: "I'm going to kick your ass" Now illegal: "You're a poopy head"

When you have masked ICE agents abducting people on the streets and making them disappear, dignity is long, long gone.

Easy. Both would be protected* from mean words under this law, if they were in same jurisdiction.

            * not that you couldn't say them, but you could get fined if you do

You're aware that Canada is not a state of the US, right?

(This should be a sign that you need to turn off the TV and delete Facebook).

So why are insults permitted against other professions?

        No, they do not.

There are many people who deserve to feel ashamed for what they do for a living.

A lot of people should be shunned for what they do to others, regardless of whether it's for making money or for other purposes.

We should not criminalize speech because it makes somebody sad.

Are you saying all insults should be illegal? Or just any insult to anyone who is doing work at the time?

I would feel insulted. However, I would not expect them to receive a thousand dollar fine.

        Spare me

With no respect at all, fuck their dignity. Hear me out. Their dignity is a work hazard. They’re representing the government, they need to drop their personal ego. The government is attempting to codify being emotionally triggered at work lol.

She got chewed out. Then everyone walked away. She got support. Cool.

The government is like you know what this should’ve been escalated.

I’m not condoning verbal abuse. There are enough protections. This is a distraction piece to forget that Mamdani is doing wild shit just a few hours away while Mtl’s leadership lacks the personal courage and dynamism that the moment calls for
