My weird new hobby: Wandering around Tokyo on Google Maps

My dad has been doing this for years. If I tell him I'm going somewhere he will "go" there too on StreetView then ask me about stuff he saw when I get back. He says sometimes he forgets whether he's actually been to places or just been to them on StreetView.

I haven't thought about looking around random places before, it is indeed quite fun. The one thing that strikes me as different about Tokyo is the overhead wires. I guess there's a reason they put everything overhead. In London almost everything is underground these days.

I do consider myself lucky to be close enough to London that I can basically do this but in real life. You can spend days just randomly wandering around, it's quite fascinating. You can do it to some extent in Glasgow and Manchester too, but there's no other place like London. I intend to move far away from urban centres in the not-too-distant future, maybe I'll continue to scratch the itch remotely at that point.
