- It sees very little investment ever since they introduced Rider.
- They give out VS Code one for free, yet the VS users are neglected.
- Touching code manually is outdated by agents anyway.

Another big thing for ReSharper was unlocking VS users to use more agents in VS: <a href="https://www.jetbrains.com/resharper/whatsnew/#preview-of-acp-agent-support-in-resharper-starts-with-junie" rel="nofollow">https://www.jetbrains.com/resharper/whatsnew/#preview-of-acp.... Next release we plan to bring in Claude Code and OpenAI Codex via this ACP entrance. And then we will combine that with the classical ReSharper intelligence in the format of skills, hooks, etc.
As for the free tier, in VS Code it's indeed there for non-commercial usage, but we don't see that many non-commercial users in VS. Majority of ReSharper users are organizational clients. That's why our decision on licensing. Hope that explains. But open to any feedbacks here.
