    That is an interesting statistic, but would be even more interesting if it were explained.

    Is this solely explained by air quality getting better? Is the climate getting dryer around the area, hence less water vapor in the air?

      1965 ? If I had to guess it was due to air pollution. Since then I think Japan has put in place strong environmental laws and maybe heavy manuf. moved elsewhere.
