    Just play the guitar, dude. I haven’t bought an effects pedal since 1995. The ones I got second hand back then for £25 still sound great.

      Depends on the genre and what settings you play in. If you have the right amp, you may not need any pedals at all for the blues, or jazz, etc. But other styles have different expectations. And there’s nothing wrong with experimentation. There’s a lot of analogue pedals that haven’t meaningfully changed since 1995, but if we’re talking about anything digital, there’s obviously been big changes.
