This dude has blocked archive.is for the whole of Finland because he has a beef with a Finnish blogger. What a swell guy, but it's his project.

Ah, so that's why it never works for me.

Most likely is that you are using Cloudflare DNS: https://jarv.is/notes/cloudflare-dns-archive-is-blocked

I use the default one from my carrier, but I've previously tried Google and other DNS servers to no avail. For some reason the site doesn't even open for me through a VPN.

        example.com blocks Iran for nothing

It's a legal requirement, all US sites must block Iran due to sanctions.

Not a "beef", but rather some petty blogger spun up a campaign to dox the owner of archive.today, who you can imagine has their reasons not to publish their identity.

You have wires crossed. It was owner of archive.today who was the asshole. Still is.

Fucker alters archive.today snapshots, uses the archive.today to do DDoS attacks.

The ddos was against the doxxer. My "wires" ain't "crossed", I guess we just have different priorities. Idk what I'd do if I had reasons to fear for my life, so I can't blame the archive.today owner and the site still works as intended.

Overall, the hate campaign against archive.today is based on them messing with a doxxer, and I cannot morally support doxxing of anyone. So please, serve me the evil ddos version of archive.today when I visit, and I'll turn a blind eye. :3

What reason does he have to fear for his life?

One reason could be that they archive stuff that people want gone. Some of those people want their stuff gone more than the others.

Another reason could for example be tied to their identity, which we do not yet know, as they have not [yet] been doxxed.

(Also, idk what pronouns they use, some people in the thread seem to refer to them by "he", is that actually something they refer to themselves as on the record, or rather a typo or 'borken Engrish'?)
