      They all seem very similar to the British &quot;new nobility&quot; in the mid-late 19th century, albeit with less syphilis and opium.

          Heard that proverb. I&#x27;m more inclined to believe rich families from 1400s are rich now. Family wealth can be preserved by sending spare sons and daughters to monastic life.
