Immigrants in Canada have a higher labor force participation rate than Canadian born citizens do.

When the wave of Syrians arrived a few years ago, most quickly got jobs. Many of them started working for businesses started by the Lebanese diaspora from the 80's.

We mostly cherry-picked the educated Syrians, though. While I broadly support immigration, we're fresh off a backlash of the student visa abuse. We need to tread carefully.

As much as I wish that were the case, the recent episode with students and their deportation suggests otherwise.

Please keep nationalistic flamebait off this site. It leads to nationalistic flamewar, which is some of the hottest, dumbest, and most avoidable flamewar that exists.
